ShareTheTab

A Splitser alternative for an itemized dinner bill

ShareTheTab splits individual receipt items with free AI scanning. One person can manage everyone's selections, or invite friends to split live in their browsers. Splitser tracks group expenses and balances over time, including household bills.

An expense list or a single receipt?

Splitser supports recurring expenses, currency conversion, shares and exact amounts. Splitser support.

ShareTheTab starts with the receipt. Assign items and portions for each person or let them choose. Tax and tip follow their food and drink subtotals; service charges can be proportional or equal. The organizer can confirm selections for people who are not online.

Does everyone need a Splitser account or app?

Splitser works on web and mobile, so downloading an app is optional. An organizer can track anonymous participants without accounts; invited people can link those entries to their own accounts to access the list. Splitser participant rules.

ShareTheTab needs no accounts for anyone. Use Add in the People row to handle everyone's split yourself, or share the invitation for optional live participation.

Receipt photos and item scanning

Splitser lets you attach a receipt photo to an expense and split the amount using shares or exact amounts. ShareTheTab extracts editable receipt items for free. Check the scan before assigning dishes.

Example: housemates go out for a meal

Your housemates may already track rent, utilities and groceries together. Dinner is a separate calculation: two people split fries, everyone shares pizza, and each person has a different main or drink. Dividing the receipt by the number of housemates would miss those differences.

In ShareTheTab, select only the dishes you had. A person sharing one quarter of a $24 pizza and ordering a $6 lemonade has a $12 item subtotal. On a $64 receipt subtotal with $5.12 tax and $12.80 tip, their tax is $0.96 and tip is $2.40, making their meal total $15.36.

You can then settle that meal separately or manually record the calculated amounts in your household expense list. ShareTheTab does not import a Splitser list, track recurring rent or maintain household balances.

Is Splitser free? Who pays fees?

Basic Splitser expense tracking is free. Some in-app payments carry transaction fees; linked-bank receiving supports Dutch and Belgian accounts. These are payment costs, not a subscription every participant must buy. Current payment terms.

ShareTheTab is free for the organizer and guests. It calculates amounts; payment happens outside the app. Its cloud bills are scheduled for deletion after six months, so keep your household ledger separately.
